The Book of Ancient Myth and War

So we are just about finished with all our artwork for the book. The other guys stuff is looking amazing. If you haven't checked out their blogs ( Don Shank , Lou Romano, and Scott Morse ) seriously suggest you do. I have links to the right where you can see there work and it's some of the most inspiring stuff around. Lou has recently posted the cover image for our book which is incredible and scott has put up another inspiring piece from his collection, so check that stuff out. As for me, this is just simple black and white painting I did of a few of the toughest ancient warriors ever, these guys were so fun to paint that I think im gonna do some more of these, not sure which ones will make it into the book, but they will all at least be on display and for sale at our gallery show in LA for the release of our book, so if you're interested you can see them there, and ill most likely post some of them here as well.

An Old Character Design Assignment

Here is a piece I did back in school, if you look closely you can still see the pin holes in the paper from when I pined it up on the wall for Rik Maki's character design class at CAL ARTS. No bells and whistles on this one, just old fashion pen and ink. This is how I used to work before I learned how to use a wacom tablet and photoshop, I think im gonna start doing some more of these. Any ways, the class assignment was to create a design involving a witch and a baby, and this is what I came up with.

The Book of Ancient Myth and War

So here is another piece I did for our book that were working on "The Ancient Book of Myth and War." It's the warrior that I've posted before, only here you can see him in all his finished painting and collaged glory. Creating the work for this book has been one of the best artistic expiriences for me so far. Everything from the subject matter, to the freedom of exploring new styles has just been a blast, I still have a few more pieces to do, but the end of the road is near. It's looking like were going to be having the book out in March now, and hopefully having a little art-show shin-dig down in LA to release the book, nothing written in stone yet, however I'll post more when I know more.

PS - The Frederator Website has decided to put my student film "Catfood" on their Halloween Special Podcast, check out their site if you're interested in creepy old ladies and toilet zombies. I made the film when I was at Cal Arts almost two years ago, so it's a bit dated, but I had a blast making it.

The Book of Ancient Myth and War !! UPDATE !!

Sorry for the lack of postings lately, I'm neck deep in artwork at the moment, so for a little while the postings will be sparatic, but here's one for October. This is one of my paintings for the Book of Ancient Myth and War, that I'm currently working on with a few of the artist here at work. It's the warrior vs. " The Claw from the Red Sea! " and it looks like our guy is off to a bad start with his battles against the greatest beasts in the history of the universe, not sure if it will get any better for him, but anyways I'm really excited about this book, it's gonna be filled with amazing art from Scott Morse, Don Shank, Ricky Nierva, Lou Romano, and me ( I'm just gonna try to keep up with these guys). Like I said, it's gonna be sweet. Were looking to have it come out sometime in February, I'll continue to post more updates about this, in the meantime, I have links to some of these artist, so check out their stuff, in my opinion, it's the best around.

An Ancient Warrior

Here's a sketch I've done of an ancient warrior. He's going to be fighting some of the deadliest mythological creatures, beasts, and monsters in the history of the universe. These battles will take place in a compolation book of ancient myth and war artwork that me and some of the artist here at the studio are putting together. The book will be out in february, and I believe will be titled something like "The Ancient Book of Myth and War." I'll post more stuff soon about this. Just don't bet on this warrior, I'm not sure that he'll do to well in these battles.

Yeti vs. Sasquatch

This is an idea for a picture book that I want to do with these two characters, the idea is that there would be no words, just a buch of drawings of them hurting each other, in an "itchy and scatchy" sort of way, it's the only way to see who would win.

A few of my friends and I here at work do a weekly character design assignment, a few months ago we all decided to draw an old grizzled gold miner, and this was my stab at the character.

Milton's Mustache

Here are a few pages from my afterworks comic, the comic is titled "Milton's Mustche" and it's about a five year old boy who wakes up one morning with a mustache. His Dad then decides to take his son into the city, and do what any responsible parent would do, put him to work, and give him alcohol.
